Mike Masheter's Magnificent Spitfire
Mike Masheter's Spitfire built from the Yellow Aircraft Kit. The model is 1/5th scale. As can be seen from the photographs the model has flaps and retractable undercarriage which is sprung and damped.
Model is powered by a Super Tigre 3000 engine which has been converted to run on petrol. The spark for the engine is provided by Prospark electronic ignition using a 4.8v nicad. The model is sprayed with Flair paint. For control Mike uses a Futaba 9ZAP with a double battery system.
Taxiing out for another patrol.
This model looks so right in the air, this could be the real thing.
The flaps are very effective for landing, giving a very realistic approach.
Flaring out for that perfect touchdown.
Here the model is seen taxiing back after another successful flight. Mike has really got this model set up perfectly.
This aircraft was signed by Air Vice Marshall Johnnie Johnson CB DSO DFC when he came over to the Isle of Man to give a lecture.
